I'm on my second "read" through "The Anti-Inflammation Diet and Recipe Book" by Jessica K. Black, N.D. Excellent book! Definitely recommended.
She talks about how disease is only able to affect a body that is susceptible. When our bodies are no longer in homeostasis - such as improper diet, poor lifestyle habits, genetic family history, chronic emotional stress, environmental toxic overload or sedentary lifestyle - it becomes weaker, being unable to defend itself against certain microorganisms and other disease states. She calls this general state of bodily reactivity and health one's "terrain".
What's your bodily "terrain"saying about you?
Simple truth: We are largely responsible for our health -- what we put into our mouths, the amount of stress in our lives, how much exercise we get and more. Genetics is such a small piece of the overall picture.
Knowing that, it gives hope because we CAN change these factors -- we can CHOOSE to eat a healthy diet, we can CHOOSE to live an active life, we can CHOOSE to reduce the amount of stress in our lives....these are things that we have control over.
Empowering! We CAN turn our health around --
The question is -- how badly do you want it?! Hmmm.....

Sounds very interesting, gonna go look for this book. Thanks for the tip. Taís.
